A Busy Few Weeks at Move Forward Staten Island
Wow. It's truly been a whirlwind few weeks for us at Move Forward Staten Island!
We held one heck of a party at Enrichmint on September 19th, raising over $5,000 for our organization at our Persist & Prosecco fundraiser. These funds will enable us to take our programming to the next level, as well as support our newest project, a film series on Staten Islanders' immigrant heritage. Thank you to our sponsors, to everyone who joined us or donated to our cause, and to our volunteers and host committee that made the event possible. A special thanks to Council Member Debi Rose, Assembly Member Charles Fall, and Public Administrator Edwina Martin for joining us! More photos from the event can be viewed here! Couldn't make it but still want to donate? You can do so here!
Staten Island's Huddled Masses: An Immigration Storytelling Project
At Persist & Prosecco we released Staten Island's Huddled Masses: An Immigration Storytelling Project. After watching it a dozen times, we still get choked up! During a time when xenophobia is spiking across the country, the film introduces three Staten Islanders who share their family's immigration story. If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch it (for free of course) on our website! If you like what you see and it's within your means, you can support the project by making a donation on our website. Our hope is to record dozens more stories to preserve this rich history of Staten Island's place in the American Dream, to put a human face to the immigration debate and to show our island in a borough in a positive light. Interested in sharing your family's story in our next film? Send us an email here! Special thanks to Projectivity for helping us to create this important film!

On Impeachment & Democracy from New York's 11th Congressional District
It's no secret that Move Forward Staten Island was founded the morning after the 2016 elections. We have opposed many of the President's policies, including the separation and incarceration of children from their families at the border, the Islamophobic Muslim travel ban, the appointment of an alleged sexual abuser to the Supreme Court, and so much more. We've also been concerned about the multitude of scandals and lack of ethical integrity from this White House. And after reading the Whistleblower Complaint, Move Forward Staten Island reached the point in which we can no longer stay silent. We believe that time is of the essence and that steps must be taken to uphold the Constitution of the United States, to safeguard the integrity of the 2020 elections, and restore the American people's faith in our electoral process. That's why we're calling on Congressman Max Rose to support the impeachment inquiry. You can read our full statement here.

As always, thank you for being a part of our work to move social justice issues forward on Staten Island. If you're interested in getting more involved with our work, we're always looking for volunteers! We've got a lot of work to do to build a more just, equitable and inclusive Staten Island and we can't do without you!
