Move Forward Staten Island will continue to speak out against the unthinkable situation at our borders and ask Representative Rose and his colleagues in Congress to do whatever is in their power to permanently end family detention and separation, ensure all families are reunited, and close the camps.
We are horrified and heartbroken. Mothers, fathers, and loved ones would do anything to keep kids safe, including seeking asylum. Parents and family members have had to make the unfathomable decision to flee their country for safety. Now children and babies:
not only are ripped from their loved ones
not only are placed in crowded facilities
not only are being practically starved
not only are living without diapers, soap and other sanitary needs
but they are also facing sickness and irreparable emotional damage.
At Move Forward Staten Island, we know that we cannot sit silent and idle while children are being harmed on America’s watch. We call on our Congressman to close the camps and reunite families now and are grateful for his pledge to visit the camps. We urge him to do so as soon as possible.
